Reigning Champs, Awa FC in a grandiose Women’s Football League 2021/2022 season opener edged Awa FC 3-2 at the Ngoa-Ekelle Stadium.
The engaging encounter saw Awa FC open scores 38 minutes into the game, a penalty scored by Genevieve Owona, captain, before Kevine Ossol increased tally three minutes to the end of half time.
Louves Minproff fought back to reduce tally through Danye Mimbang ten minutes into the second half but their joy was short-lived as Brenda Tabe increased tally for Awa FC.
Frantic efforts from Louves earned them a 70th minute goal from Adrienne Tchinda but not enough to secure them a draw, Awa FC bagged three points in a 3-2 defeat.
Georgette Ngo Boum was voted Woman of Guinessico and went home home with the sum of FCFA 50,000.
Meanwhile before the game, there was a parade of the teams and fans of the clubs of the Professional Football League.
Guinness Commercial Director, Felicite Nguangue and Professional Women’s Football League, Celine Eko, Fecafoot President, Samuel Eto’o accompanied by Roger Milla gave the kick-off of the season.
Also present to cheer the ladies were, the Indomitable Lions Coach, Song Bahanag, SYNFOC president, Jeremi Njitap, and other national team coaches.
There was equally a musical display at the beginning and half time spicing the celebration of women football and fans clubs cheering their players.
