Cameroon Elite One: Coton Sport Beat Renaissance FC In An Advanced Day 12 Encounter

Coton Sport FC of Garoua this Sunday, February 5, 2023, beat Renaissance of Ngoumou 1-0 in an advance Day 12 of play of the Cameroon Elite one football championship.

Played at the Ngoa Ekelle Stadium in Yaounde, Coton Sport scored the lone goal of the match in the first period through Ramses Donfack,  44 minutes into the encounter.

Renaissance of Ngoumou came very close to taking the lead during the first period as they dominated the game but wasted their scoring opportunities.

Coton sport bounced back in the second half of the game but failed to increase the tally despite the opportunities in front of the goal.

Renaissance FC  proved to master the game in the second half,  but Coton Sport’s defense constantly pulled down their strategic moves. Both teams would have scored in the last minutes of the match again, their shots went off target.

Coton Sport’s win, therefore, takes them top of Group A of the championship. They will face Eding FC on Wednesday, February 8th at 6 pm local time as they prepare to get into continental competition in the weeks ahead.

Speaking after the game,  Gabriel Haman, Coton Sport Coach, said the level of play but pointed out that they have crucial games to tackle in the days ahead,  especially when they face Mamelodi Sundowns FC in Garoua on February 17, 2023, in the CAF Champions League match.

Before then, the coach stressed that they would evaluate the team after they must have faced Eding FC on Wednesday, February 8, in Yaoundé.
