AS Fortuna, newcomers to the top-tier women’s championship has registered its first victory on the first day of the Guinness Super League.
Staged at the Ngoa-Ekelle Stadium in Yaounde, AS Fortuna humiliated visiting Ngadeu FC by 4-1.
AS Fortuna opened scores from the penalty spot but their jubilation was short leaved as the Ngaoundere base team equalized from a free kick position.
The euphoria of the game put the two teams on the move as each of them tried to take the lead. However, it was AS Fortuna that benefited from Ngadeu defensive errors to score the second and third goals before the end of the first period.
In the second period of the game, the Ngaoundere-based team tried to balance the score line but came constantly to meet AS Fortuna’s wall.
It was at the last minutes of the game that the Yaounde team succeeded in adding one goal after several attempts were blocked by goalkeeper Diane Nadege of Ngadeu FC.
Even though disappointed in the first match, visiting Ngadeu FC promised to change their tactics during the next playing day.
