Some sons and daughters of Nso resident in Yaounde and grouped under the umbrella Association of Nso Cultural and Development Association Nso’Bati Yaounde have paid glorious tribute to one of theirs Shufai Dr. Daniel Lantum.
The ceremony took place in Yaounde on August 29 chaired by the President of Nso’Bati Yaounde, Abel Wirngo accompanied by the Former Prime of Cameroon, Philemon Yang and Minister Asheri Kilo.
During the occasion that saw some traditional rites performed, sons and daughters as well as well wishers describe Shufai Bastos as a hero, a man with a golden heart.
They all acknowledged the fact that the Nso community, Bui Division and Northwest and Cameroon as a whole have lost a man of dignity.
Shufai wo Bastos was an emeritus Professor of medicine, but he believed in a blend of both traditional and modern medicine.
He contributed immensely to the eradication of goiter, the swelling at the neck due to lack of iodine in Cameroon.
This was through the introduction of iodine to all imported salt before it is sold in the market.
Prof who died at the age of 86 wrote extensively on topics like history, African traditions, poetry and religion.
