Lekie Filles Dominate Neophyte AS Fortuna 3-0

Lekie Filles in a day two game of the Guinness Super League humbled newcomers AS Fortuna 3-0 to maintain the lead. Lekie has won their second game of the season and bagged two Woman or Guinnessico.

Opening scores in the first half through Marie Ngah Manga converted a penalty, Farida Machia doubled for Lekie girls as both teams returned from the break before Brenda Tabe increased the tally to 3-0.

Talking about the performance of the team, Vice-captain, Tantoh Melvis had this to say:

For coach Benoit Otele of AS Fortuna, the penalty destabilized the squad and they could not regain their composure till the end of the game. He however said the team would continue to work hard to win the next game.

Coach Stephane Ndzana for his part maintained that the game was difficult in the first half given they are newcomers to the top-tier competition. They easily group at the defense and rendered the game difficult for opponents.

Ndzana maintained that Lekie would work extra hard to consolidate their achievements so far. The ambition of Lekie Filles is to win more matches to emerge champions.

Ngah Manga was voted the Woman of Guinnessico.

AFCON 2021: “Ethiopia May Seem Weak, But We Have To Be Vigilant” – Conceição

Cameroon head coach, Antonio Conceição says as the team prepares to take Ethiopia in the second Group A match of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, the indomitable lions need to be vigilant.

Speaking during pre-match press conference at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde on January 12, coach Conceição said, even though Ethiopia is less strong football nations, they can still create surprises looking at how they played their first match.

“Our objective is to win and to win we must have ball possession and to control the ball. we need to score. we need to come up with an offensive game and try to win,” he said.

He added, “it will not good for us to play a draw. Ethiopia can be a less stronger team but can cause a lot of surprises and we need to be vigilant.”

Conceicao stressed, “We are preparing the match against Ethiopia with the same trust like the first match. It is important to win the second match. We have to put another strategy and our objective is a win. we have continued with our training and all our players are ready to play the second.”

The coach who had not explain his choice of captain today explained he choose Aboubakar Vincent because he is a good player in ant out of the field of play and respected by his mates.

Samuel Oum Gouet

Samuel Oum Gouet who accompanied the coach said preparations are high and they are looking for ward to beat Ethiopia. “Every match is different and unique reason why we are looking forward to our next game with home”.

Cameroon will take on Ethiopia on Thursday January 13 in the second Group game while Cape Verde will confront Burkina Faso in another group game.
