Lekié FC Crowned Guinness Super League 2023 Champions

Lekie FC has been crowned champions of the Cameroon Women’s Football Competition dubbed Guinness Super League 2023.

The match was staged at Yaounde Omnisport Annex 1 Stadium in a ceremony presided over by Céline Eko, First Vice-President of Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, and President of the Cameroon Women’s Football League.

Knowing that they were already champions before the last playing day, Lekie FC maintained their superiority in style as they thrashed Amazon FAP 4-0 during the top and final game of the season.

Before the end of the first half of the game, Lekie FC was leading Amazon FC by a goal to nothing, in the second half, things turned to soar for Amazon as they failed to score a goal conceding three to make it 4-0.

It was the 22nd game for Lekie FC recorded 18 victories, three draws, and one defeat this season. The team finished at the top of the championship with 57 points, seven points ahead of its runner-up Éclair FF de Sa’a with 50 points and 13 points more than FC Ebolowa, which came in the third position with 44 points.

Lekié had the best attack this season, scoring 68 goals while three of their best attackers scored significant goals. Marie Ngah Manga scored 19 goals while Brenda Tabe and Raïssa Nnanga recorded 14 goals each. Lekié FC ascended into the topflight championship in the 2021-2022 season.

Women’s Championship: Super Guinnessico Kick-starts Second Phase

The second phase of the women’s football championship dubbed the Guinness Super League kick-started on Saturday, April 1, 2023, with a Super Guinnessico- the first of its kind.

It was equally an opportunity for the Cameroon football Federation and Guinness to scout for more partners for the women’s championship which get limited attention.

Authentic trashed Louves Minproff 3-1 in an encounter watched by many football fans at the Bepanda Annex Stadium in Douala.

The trio, Solange Larkingam, Shallom Makoma, and Djiffo put Authentic in the lead before Louves Ghislaine Nkou reduced scores late in the game.

Solange Larkingam was voted Woman of the Match and like many before her, bagged FCFA 50000 for her brilliant performance. She enters the records as the 13th Woman of Guinnessico.

Like it was the case during the first phase, Louves Minproff started on a bad note losing three points at the third position on the classification table.

Gifto le Russie, a young Cameroonian musician added spice to the encounter with his popular song ‘Le car qui part..’ -“the car on the move”.

First Phase Guinness Super League: The Good, Bad &Ugly

The first phase of the Guinness Super League has come to an end with Lekie Filles emerging as the champion with 28 points, 35 goals scored and five conceded. The team has demonstrated that it has the best attack so far from the huge number of goals scored.

Also, the top three scorers are Lekie Filles, Raissa Nanga with 09, Brenda Tabe with 09, and Nga Manga with 07 goals respectively.

Two players scored the fastest goals of the first phase, Bongben Confidence and Maicha Farida.

The season produced 11 ‘Woman of Guinnessico’ who were part of the celebrations and they went home with the sum of FCFA 50,000.

The case of FC Ebolowa where Julliet Tufoin, was accused of changing her identity and reservations made for her club to lose three points. The player on her Facebook said she has never changed her identity and traced her transfer for Abawka Girls to Vision Sports which she claims followed the right procedure.

Canon of Yaounde following an in-house squabble has not played this season and has been relegated to an inferior league. Instead.

Guinness Super League: Bongben Confidence Indispensable Plug For FAP Amazone

Following the late day eight game of the Guinness Super League played today at the Ngoa Ekelle stadium, Bongben Confidence scored a brace for FAP Amazone in a 5-1 win against Caiman FF.

Confidence scored one of the fastest goals of the 2022/2023 season, 25 seconds into the encounter.

She doubled the scores four minutes later before Linda Ngatchou increased the tally, making it 3-0 for Amazone.

Wanki Rita scored the fourth goal at stoppage time in the first half before Camian FF through Brenda Ebobisse reduced the tally after the second period. Esterin Nyebe added the fifth goal for FAP Amazone.

Following her enterprising nature, Bongben Confidence is gradually building confidence in the team and herself. She played a significant role of an assist, connecting balls for the attackers to net them in their 2-0 win against Eding FF, the first win of the season.

Her performance earned her the Woman-of-Guinnessico.

Confidence has proven to be a great plug for FAP Amazone helping the team to win back-to-back after registering a series of defeats at the start of the season.

FAP now has six points and seven goals scored following the eighth day of play.

Lekie Filles Dominate Neophyte AS Fortuna 3-0

Lekie Filles in a day two game of the Guinness Super League humbled newcomers AS Fortuna 3-0 to maintain the lead. Lekie has won their second game of the season and bagged two Woman or Guinnessico.

Opening scores in the first half through Marie Ngah Manga converted a penalty, Farida Machia doubled for Lekie girls as both teams returned from the break before Brenda Tabe increased the tally to 3-0.

Talking about the performance of the team, Vice-captain, Tantoh Melvis had this to say:

For coach Benoit Otele of AS Fortuna, the penalty destabilized the squad and they could not regain their composure till the end of the game. He however said the team would continue to work hard to win the next game.

Coach Stephane Ndzana for his part maintained that the game was difficult in the first half given they are newcomers to the top-tier competition. They easily group at the defense and rendered the game difficult for opponents.

Ndzana maintained that Lekie would work extra hard to consolidate their achievements so far. The ambition of Lekie Filles is to win more matches to emerge champions.

Guinness Super League: All You Need To Know

The Cameroon women’s football championship, 2022/2023, dubbed the Guinness Super League, kicks off Saturday, June 14, at the Ngoa Ekelle Stadium.

Following the tradition, the opening ceremony would be a celebration of women’s football, fan clubs, and those contributing to the promotion of her game.

The season’s curtain raiser an attractive pairing between Lekie Filles and Éclair Filles of Saa. The teams scouted for fresh blood to beef up their squads and are ready for the head-on.

Like last year, twelve teams were on the starting block. Newcomers are AS Fortuna and Ngadeu FC.

The teams booked their spot in the top tier league following the relegation of Vision FC of Bamenda and Rennaissance of Guider last season.

Sad to note, no team from the Northwest or Southwest regions qualified for the top-tier league this season.

Players this season would engage in a fierce battle for the woman of the Guinnessico, the prestigious woman of the match award at every top match.

Like last season the woman of Guinnessico is entitled to a beautiful ceremony and smiles home the sum of FCFA 50,000frs.

Players Who Left/Joined The Championship
This season opens without some players who have found fortune in clubs abroad following their brilliant performance in the Guinness Super League.

The top scorer of the 2022 season Lamine Mana now plays for AS Malot in France and more, a testimony of the quality of the local championship.

Four players have returned home to the local championship, among them Annicey Nguiadem.

Before the season opener, there was a seminar for match commissioners and focal points to keep them abreast of their roles and for a hitch-free season.

Also, referees and match assistants refreshed themselves on the rules and regulations during a training seminar at Mbankomo.

As the Professional Women’s Football League and its partner Guinness have ironed out modalities, the season would start with smooth programming.

AS Awa FC Beat Amazone FAP To Emerge Champions

AS Awa FC have been FAP Amazone to be crowned champions of the 2022 Cameroon Women Professional Football League dubbed Guinness Super League. Awa FC beat Amazon FAP FC 3-2 to closed the 2021/2022 season.

Even though AS Awa FC was going to the game as favourite, Amazone FAP also had a lot chances to carry the day. However, it was Farida Maicha of AS Awa FC that opened scores in the first 20 minutes of the game following a misunderstanding at the defense area of FAP.

Minutes after, Confidence Bongben of FAP equalized but their celebration was cut short and Raissa Ebenye struck for her club AS Awa FC to increase the tally before the end of the first half.

From the locker room, FAP looked very optimistic to turned the table but their control in front of the goal post were not successful. Things turned soar for FAP when they scored sheet moved up to three against one.

Nevertheless, the green light showed up for FAP as they reduced the score line by 2-3 same score which remained unchanged at the end of regular time. Awa FC was champions in the 2020/2022 season as champions.

During the encounter for surprising the goalkeeper, Marthe Ogmahan with a beautiful goal, Rita Wanki was crowned “Women of Guinnessico of the Day 22.

Meanwhile, Fecafoot president, Samuel Eto’o Fils flanked by the league sponsors, Guinness and the Women’s league gave the kick-off of the hotly contested encounter.

On the occasion, the President of the Women’s Football League, Celine Eko stressed that Guinness has promised to double the investment in the championship.

Guinness Super League: Lamine Flying High With Unbeatable, Unstoppable Awa FF

Top form Lamine Mana is one of the forwards flying high with Awa FF at the top of the league table.

Lamine so far has scored 11 of the 27 goals for club, Awa FF reigning on top of the league table, not suffered any defeat after eight days of play.

Scoring a brace Lamine Mana emerged Woman of Guinessico of Day 8. This comes after she was the best player in other games and took home two balls.

Awa Filles seems unbeatable and unstoppable with 24 points following day eight games of the women football league, Guinness Super League.

With a myriad of strikers, Awa has a scoring machine capable of destabilizing any team of the league, terrorizing opponents.

Meanwhile, FAP recorded their first loss of the season in a controversial goal, classified second with 17 points.

Éclair FF has been able to regain stamina winning the last two games to move up to the third position.

One of the biggest wins has been Vision Sports of Bamenda who have been able to win their last two games to bag six points from the bottom place occupied in their last six games.

However, they remain second from the bottom only tailed by Renaissance still struggling to win their first game.

Guinness Super League Day Seven: Vision Sports FC Snatches Win; Plus, Ups, Downs

The Guinness Super League entered day seven over the week-end, with a major upset, Vision Sports picking a win against Renaissance of Guider.

This is the first win for Vision Sports FC ranked at the bottom of the league table with Renaissance who are now the only team yet to win a game.

Day seven seemed tougher with fewer goals scored, 12, since the beginning of the women football championship.

The highest score of the day was 4-2 as Éclair FF beat Lekie FF and Awa FF beat Caiman of Douala 2-0 the other games were won with just a single goal.

FAP Amazone beat Louves Minproff in a tough Guinessico game where the lone goal scored by Naomi Leslie Eto earned them a net superiority over Louves unable to level and reduce score.

However, the game saw two tough ladies at the top level coaching, former players turned coaches showed their skills and tactical know-how.

Naomi Lelie Eto for slotting in the lone goal against Louves Minproff emerged the Woman of Guinnessico and like those before her, bagged home FCFA 50,000.

Awa FC remains unchallenged on top of the classification table with 21 points, 25 goals scored followed by FAP Amazone with 17 points, seven goals scored. Third is Éclair with 13 points six goals scored.

The top scorers still are Flora Kameni, Lamine Mana and Brenda Tabe while many others like Priso Pauline of Eclair have joined the scorers with four goals.

Guinness Super League: Awa FF Continues To Dictate Pace

Awa FF continues to top the league table unperturbed after day five matches played across the country.

Lamine Mana scoring a hat trick helped the club to trash Authentic FF of Douala 5-0 to maintain the top position with 15 points and 19 goals scored.

Lamine during the encounter opened scores barely seven minutes then increased tally within a three minutes interval.

The second goal, a free kick which she lifted directly into the net before increasing tally at the 38th minute. Farida Machia scored before break while Owona Mballa sealed Authentic’s faith in the second half.

Awa FF is joined on top of the league table by Amazone FAP who were slowed by Éclair FF to share the spoils.

Amazone are second on the league table with 11 points and only 4 goals scored. Newly promoted Lekie FF are in the third position with ten points and two goals scored.

It should be noted that Louves Minproff are progressing despite a poor start with the second highest goals scored, 12.

At the bottom of the league table are Vision Sport FC who have lost all their games, have conceded 15 goals while Renaissance of Figuil is the last on the table having conceded 21 goals.

Two clubs, Awa FF and Louves Minproff have the best strikers, while Vision Sports FC and Renaissance are distributors of goals, with poor defense and attack.

Éclair FF Holds Amazone FAP To 1-1 Tie

Visitors Eclair FF have held Amazone FAP to a 1-1 tie. The encounter at the Olembe Annex Stadium saw FAP open scores through Gaylaine Tchadeu but their joy of picking three points was short-lived when Priso Ndong Pauline sent a beautiful short over Ngo Ndom’s head directly into the net behind.

Eclair held on till the end of the encounter to slow FAP’s progressing at the top of the table. Having lost two of their games, Eclair are looking good to return to winning ways.

Meanwhile, Louves Minproff picked three points beating Canon FF 2-0 in their Day 5 game to move up the league table with seven points. Though not among the top five on the league table, Louves Minproff can take pride for scoring 12 goals in a single game, and hosting the top scorer with ten goals to her boots, Flora Kameni.

But, Coach Anong Bernadette is not yet satisfied with the team’s performance and is working hard to turn the tides.

Presently, Awa FC continues to top the league table with 12 points, a clean slate and looking good with Lamine Mana who scored a haul-trick ( 6 goals) against Vision Sports FC of Bamenda.

Guinness Super League: 18 Goals Scored In Day One

Following day one games across the stadiums, a total of 18 goals were scored.

Bongben Mbuh Confidence braced Amazone Fap to a 2-1 win over Lekie Filles while Eleane Bibout equally doubled against Eclair Filles in a 6-1 bashing of Vision Sports FC. These are the two top scorers of day one.

Eclair of Sa’a recorded the highest goals, 6-1 against Vision Sports FC of Bamenda. Then, Awa FC recorded three goals 3-2 defeatig Loves Minproff.

No draw games, six teams lost their first matches while the other six won their first games.

Georgette Ngo Boum emerged as the winner of the first Woman of Guinnessico- (Man-of-the-Match) bagging home FCFA 50,000.

No major incident recorded on this first day of the Guinness Super League and the fans turned out to cheer their clubs. But, turn out at the different stadiums is still low.

Guinness Super League: Awa FC Edges Louves 3-2 In Grandiose Season 2 Opener

Reigning Champs, Awa FC in a grandiose Women’s Football League 2021/2022 season opener edged Awa FC 3-2 at the Ngoa-Ekelle Stadium.

The engaging encounter saw Awa FC open scores 38 minutes into the game, a penalty scored by Genevieve Owona, captain, before Kevine Ossol increased tally three minutes to the end of half time.

Louves Minproff fought back to reduce tally through Danye Mimbang ten minutes into the second half but their joy was short-lived as Brenda Tabe increased tally for Awa FC.

Frantic efforts from Louves earned them a 70th minute goal from Adrienne Tchinda but not enough to secure them a draw, Awa FC bagged three points in a 3-2 defeat.

Georgette Ngo Boum was voted Woman of Guinessico and went home home with the sum of FCFA 50,000.

Meanwhile before the game, there was a parade of the teams and fans of the clubs of the Professional Football League.

Guinness Commercial Director, Felicite Nguangue and Professional Women’s Football League, Celine Eko, Fecafoot President, Samuel Eto’o accompanied by Roger Milla gave the kick-off of the season.

Also present to cheer the ladies were, the Indomitable Lions Coach, Song Bahanag, SYNFOC president, Jeremi Njitap, and other national team coaches.

There was equally a musical display at the beginning and half time spicing the celebration of women football and fans clubs cheering their players.
