Lekie FC has been crowned champions of the Cameroon Women’s Football Competition dubbed Guinness Super League 2023.
The match was staged at Yaounde Omnisport Annex 1 Stadium in a ceremony presided over by Céline Eko, First Vice-President of Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, and President of the Cameroon Women’s Football League.
Knowing that they were already champions before the last playing day, Lekie FC maintained their superiority in style as they thrashed Amazon FAP 4-0 during the top and final game of the season.
Before the end of the first half of the game, Lekie FC was leading Amazon FC by a goal to nothing, in the second half, things turned to soar for Amazon as they failed to score a goal conceding three to make it 4-0.
It was the 22nd game for Lekie FC recorded 18 victories, three draws, and one defeat this season. The team finished at the top of the championship with 57 points, seven points ahead of its runner-up Éclair FF de Sa’a with 50 points and 13 points more than FC Ebolowa, which came in the third position with 44 points.
Lekié had the best attack this season, scoring 68 goals while three of their best attackers scored significant goals. Marie Ngah Manga scored 19 goals while Brenda Tabe and Raïssa Nnanga recorded 14 goals each. Lekié FC ascended into the topflight championship in the 2021-2022 season.
