Women’s Championship: Super Guinnessico Kick-starts Second Phase

The second phase of the women’s football championship dubbed the Guinness Super League kick-started on Saturday, April 1, 2023, with a Super Guinnessico- the first of its kind.

It was equally an opportunity for the Cameroon football Federation and Guinness to scout for more partners for the women’s championship which get limited attention.

Authentic trashed Louves Minproff 3-1 in an encounter watched by many football fans at the Bepanda Annex Stadium in Douala.

The trio, Solange Larkingam, Shallom Makoma, and Djiffo put Authentic in the lead before Louves Ghislaine Nkou reduced scores late in the game.

Solange Larkingam was voted Woman of the Match and like many before her, bagged FCFA 50000 for her brilliant performance. She enters the records as the 13th Woman of Guinnessico.

Like it was the case during the first phase, Louves Minproff started on a bad note losing three points at the third position on the classification table.

Gifto le Russie, a young Cameroonian musician added spice to the encounter with his popular song ‘Le car qui part..’ -“the car on the move”.

Guinness Super League Day Seven: Vision Sports FC Snatches Win; Plus, Ups, Downs

The Guinness Super League entered day seven over the week-end, with a major upset, Vision Sports picking a win against Renaissance of Guider.

This is the first win for Vision Sports FC ranked at the bottom of the league table with Renaissance who are now the only team yet to win a game.

Day seven seemed tougher with fewer goals scored, 12, since the beginning of the women football championship.

The highest score of the day was 4-2 as Éclair FF beat Lekie FF and Awa FF beat Caiman of Douala 2-0 the other games were won with just a single goal.

FAP Amazone beat Louves Minproff in a tough Guinessico game where the lone goal scored by Naomi Leslie Eto earned them a net superiority over Louves unable to level and reduce score.

However, the game saw two tough ladies at the top level coaching, former players turned coaches showed their skills and tactical know-how.

Naomi Lelie Eto for slotting in the lone goal against Louves Minproff emerged the Woman of Guinnessico and like those before her, bagged home FCFA 50,000.

Awa FC remains unchallenged on top of the classification table with 21 points, 25 goals scored followed by FAP Amazone with 17 points, seven goals scored. Third is Éclair with 13 points six goals scored.

The top scorers still are Flora Kameni, Lamine Mana and Brenda Tabe while many others like Priso Pauline of Eclair have joined the scorers with four goals.

Guinness Super League: Awa FC Edges Louves 3-2 In Grandiose Season 2 Opener

Reigning Champs, Awa FC in a grandiose Women’s Football League 2021/2022 season opener edged Awa FC 3-2 at the Ngoa-Ekelle Stadium.

The engaging encounter saw Awa FC open scores 38 minutes into the game, a penalty scored by Genevieve Owona, captain, before Kevine Ossol increased tally three minutes to the end of half time.

Louves Minproff fought back to reduce tally through Danye Mimbang ten minutes into the second half but their joy was short-lived as Brenda Tabe increased tally for Awa FC.

Frantic efforts from Louves earned them a 70th minute goal from Adrienne Tchinda but not enough to secure them a draw, Awa FC bagged three points in a 3-2 defeat.

Georgette Ngo Boum was voted Woman of Guinessico and went home home with the sum of FCFA 50,000.

Meanwhile before the game, there was a parade of the teams and fans of the clubs of the Professional Football League.

Guinness Commercial Director, Felicite Nguangue and Professional Women’s Football League, Celine Eko, Fecafoot President, Samuel Eto’o accompanied by Roger Milla gave the kick-off of the season.

Also present to cheer the ladies were, the Indomitable Lions Coach, Song Bahanag, SYNFOC president, Jeremi Njitap, and other national team coaches.

There was equally a musical display at the beginning and half time spicing the celebration of women football and fans clubs cheering their players.
