“We Lacked Experience And Fighting Spirit”- Nouhou Tolo
By Etienne Mengnjo Mainimo
Cameroon international and left-back Nouhou Tolo has unveiled his views on the performance of the Indomitable Lions in the last two games of the ongoing TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire. According to Tolo, although the team played well, they lacked experience and fighting spirit.
During a pre-match press conference in Cote d’Ivoire ahead of their match against Gambia on January 23, Tolo stated, “In our first two games, we played very well, but we just lacked experience and fighting spirit. I honestly think that we did not run enough. However, if we are more dynamic against Gambia, we will win. We have observed that in this AFCON, teams that give more on the pitch tend to come out victorious.”
Cameroon and Gambia will face each other for the second time in the Africa Cup of Nations, following their clash in the quarterfinals of the 2022 edition in Cameroon. In that encounter, Cameroon emerged triumphant with a 2-0 victory, thanks to two goals from the talented Karl Toko-Ekambi.
A win for Cameroon in this match will put them in a favorable position as they strive to qualify for the next phase of the competition.
