BSFC 10th Edition: Unifying Communities Through Sports, A Path To Peace And Development

The 2023 edition of the Bui Sports Fans Competition (BSFC has kicked off in Yaounde with the primary objective of unifying communities through sports and paving the way for peace and development.

This year marks the competition’s 10th edition, which began on October 8 with the participation of eight teams from various localities in the Bui Division in the Northwest Region of Cameroon.

The competition, also known as “Community Sports for Peace and Development,” celebrates its achievements since its inaugural edition in 2007.

Aside from fostering peace and development, the BSFC aims to promote social cohesion, integration, and talent detection.

During the opening day, Hyginus Sahka, the President of Bui Strikers Veteran Football Club, emphasized that the BSFC journey has nurtured young talents and witnessed remarkable outcomes.

He added that the competition has provided employment opportunities in various domains but has also played a role in bringing people together, with some even finding life partners through this community-based football jamboree.

Sahka stated, “Our accomplishments are just so abundant. As we embark on this tenth edition, we must honor and celebrate our fallen heroes and those still with us for the good work they did and are doing to make the competition grow from strength to strength. The unfolding tournament promises to be a joyous occasion for all involved.”

On the first playing day, a total of five goals were scored, with the highest-scoring match being a 2-2 draw between Mile One Kumbo FC and Dzekwa Rangers. In the second match, NDECA FC secured a 1-0 victory over Kinkerangker FC in a highly contested game.

On the second day of the competition, staged on October 15, Bui Diaspora FC defeated Bui Strikers FC 2-0. Melim FC narrowly emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over Won Mbveh Chitaa FC. All matches occur at the Mateco Stadium, located on the University of Yaounde One Campus.

The Bui Strikers Veteran Football Club is the organizer of the BSFC, which began in 2007, bringing together the three communities that constitute the Bui Division, namely the Nso, Oku, and Noni communities. The competition will also pay tribute to heroes from the Bui Division who have made significant contributions to sports and community development.

According to the organizers, by paying tribute to these heroes, the BSFC not only celebrates their achievements but also seeks to inspire future generations to follow in their footsteps.

Their stories serve as a testament to the transformative power of sports and community involvement, motivating others to make a positive difference in their own communities.

As the BSFC continues to grow and evolve, Bui Strikers Veterans say, it remains committed to its core mission of promoting unity, peace, and development through sports within the Bui Division.
