Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL) has announced its plans to enhance service quality and deploy 5G technology, marking a significant milestone in Cameroon’s digital landscape.

This announcement was made by Daniel Désiré Olle, CAMTEL’s Deputy Managing Director, during a panel discussion at the ongoing 14th edition of the Government Action Fair (SAGO) in Yaoundé.
The 2025 edition of SAGO, running from June 28 to July 5, is themed “Public Service and the Challenge of Cameroon’s Economic Growth.”
“Since 2015, CAMTEL has successfully deployed 2G, 3G, and 4G technologies on par with other operators,” stated Désiré Olle.
“Today, we are progressing further, with our 5G infrastructure ready on the hardware level. We only need to activate the software components once the national 5G strategy is officially adopted.”

He stressed that the 5G rollout is part of a broader network expansion plan aimed at significantly enhancing service quality and increasing coverage from 40% to 80% by early 2025.
CAMTEL aims to position itself at the forefront of technological innovation in Cameroon, ensuring cutting-edge connectivity to support economic growth and digital inclusion.
The operator is committed to delivering faster and more reliable services to meet the growing demands of consumers and businesses in an increasingly connected world.

The promise of high-quality 5G is not just a technological achievement; it is a crucial step towards fulfilling the country’s development and prosperity goals.
SAGO serves as a platform to showcase the achievements of the Cameroonian government across various sectors. CAMTEL is utilizing this opportunity to highlight its innovations and the benefits it offers to customers.
The objective is to promote advanced digital solutions for businesses and to underscore CAMTEL’s role as a vital digital hub for efficient public service amid digital transformation. The operator is also presenting its strategic vision through its services, digital solutions, and the upcoming deployment of 5G technology.

Under the leadership of Judith Yah Sunday epouse Achidi, CAMTEL continues to assert its role as a strategic partner in public service modernization. The company positions itself as a digital hub driving the country’s economic development by facilitating access to high-speed internet, cloud services, cybersecurity, and enterprise connectivity.
SAGO 2025 was launched on June 30 at the Yaoundé City Council’s esplanade by Minister of Communication René Emmanuel Sadi, representing the Prime Minister. He praised the establishment of a new exhibition space dedicated to promoting locally made products, dubbed the “Village for Local Consumption.”

Minister Sadi noted that this initiative aligns perfectly with the Head of State’s call for import substitution and local economic empowerment.
“This village is more than just a display; it is a direct response to the President’s appeal for Cameroonians to produce and consume what we create. It symbolizes economic patriotism,” Minister Sadi remarked.
