Over 500 widows in the Ndu Subdivision of Cameroon’s Northwest Region have benefited from a free health campaign in observance of International Widows’ Day.
This impactful initiative was generously sponsored by Mafor Judith Yah Sunday épouse Achidi, General Manager of CAMTEL, aimed at enhancing the health and well-being of widows within the community.
The event took place at the Ndu District Hospital, where participants received free medical consultations, laboratory tests, and essential medications.
The excitement was filled with gratitude as both the widows and the larger community expressed their deep appreciation for this vital support, with many widows sharing heartfelt thanks for the much-needed medical assistance.
This health campaign is part of a broader effort to assist vulnerable populations across the region. By providing accessible medical care, the initiative seeks to improve health outcomes for widows and their families, addressing critical health needs and promoting overall well-being.
Going by observers, Mafor Yah Sunday’s sponsorship of this event underscores her commitment to social responsibility and community development. They also note that her efforts have made a significant positive impact on the lives of widows in Ndu, ensuring they receive essential medical care and support.

International Widows Day is a United Nations-recognized day of action to address the “poverty and injustice faced by millions of widows and their dependents in many countries”. The day takes place annually on 23 June.
