Cameroon captain Vincent Aboubakar scored the lone goal of the match as the Indomitable Lions edged Namibia 1-0 at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium in Garoua on September 7th.

Aboubakar capitalized on a blocked Bryan Mbeumo shot to give Cameroon the lead in the 65th minute. He had a chance to double the advantage but was denied by Namibian goalkeeper Maova in a one-on-one situation.

Cameroon struggled to break the deadlock in the first half, facing a well-organized Namibian defense. Coach Collin Benjamin’s 4-3-3 formation presented challenges for Marc Brys’ Cameroon team.

With this victory, Cameroon claimed the top spot in Group J with three points. Cameron will face Zimbabwe in the next qualification match. The 2025 AFCON will take place in Morocco.

Prior to the match, Cameroon had an undefeated home record in their last four competitive games, while Namibia had a five-match winning streak on the road.

Cameroon record against Namibia in their two previous encounters since 2022, included a 1-1 draw in Yaoundé in March 2023 and a 1-2 loss in the return leg 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

While Cameroon has a stronger overall record in Africa Cup of Nations qualification, Namibia has performed better in their recent five matches.
