Aisha Buhari Tournament: Cameroon Bows To Morocco 1-0
Cameroon national women’s team, the Indomitable Lionesses participating in the maiden edition of the ongoing Aisha Buhari tournament entered the competition on a bad footing this afternoon at the Molobaji stadium against the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco.
The players of Coach Gabriel Zabo recorded a 1-0 defeat during their first game of the six-nation tournament.
The highly watched game saw the Moroccan striker Tagnaout Fatima open scores for her side in the 78th minute of playtime for the Atlas Lionesses to pick the day’s three points.
“We knew that we were going to play a very technical team that will be falling on the pitch now and then. We dominated the game but couldn’t capitalize on our chances”.
” We are rebuilding the team and have a lot of young players ready to play. Some of our foreign based players came late. With this type of tournament, the team will be better as the game progresses”, Head Coach Gabriel Zabo echoed.
Participating in this maiden football competition for coach Gabriel Zabo is aimed at preparing an ideal team for the upcoming continental play-offs.
Captain, Aboudi Onguene, maintained, “As a team, we have a new coach and are rebuilding. This is the reason why l congratulate our opponents for their victory”.
