Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions have clawed their way to the top of Group D in World Cup qualifying after dominating Cape Verde 4-1 in the qualifiers of the 2026 World Cup at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde.

On June 8th, the Lions displayed their firepower, netting two goals in each half to secure a convincing win. This victory propels Cameroon to the top of the group standings with seven points after three matches.

Libya trails closely behind in second place, also boasting seven points after edging out Mauritius 2-1. Angola sits in third with five points following a narrow 1-0 win against Eswatini.

Cape Verde finds itself pushed down to fourth with four points. Mauritius and Eswatini remain at the bottom of the table with a single point and zero points, respectively.

Cameroon will set their sights on extending their lead when they face Angola on June 11th. Meanwhile, Cape Verde faces a crucial match against Libya in a must-win encounter to keep their qualification hopes alive.

The clash between Mauritius and Eswatini will determine who remains rooted to the bottom of the group.
